Public policy plays a critical part in determining the development outcomes in most countries.Public Policy has come of age. From being a small part of the curriculum of Public Administration courses or even of the parent discipline of Political Science there is a worldwide recognition today that public policy plays a critical part in determining the development outcomes in most countries.
A study of public policy per se has therefore assumed great significance now.
The increasing interaction between sub-national entities and supra-national entities sometimes bypassing the national governments has all added new dimensions to the concept and the process of Public policy.

PG programme


Realising the importance of public policy as an academic programme and the tremendous employment opportunities the field has opened up, the ICFAI School of Public Policy (ISPP) has started a postgraduate programme in Public Policy (Masters in Public Policy).The school is headed by Prof. B.V Rama Rao, former Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh and a distinguished Public Policy expert.The programme is designed to promote an understanding of the key elements of the policy process, especially of its socio-economic, political and environmental dimensions. Multi-disciplinary in nature, it engages and synthesizes important themes in political science, environment, economics and other social sciences.

Electives


A number of electives addressing sector-specific issues relating to energy, health, environment, gender, poverty, infrastructure, rural development and education form a critical component of the MPP. The course is meant for graduates in the sciences, social sciences, commerce, engineering and law; it is ideal for those seeking employment in the civil services, non-government organizations, multilateral and bilateral agencies and the private sector.In essence, ISPP’s multi-disciplinary postgraduate programme in Public Policy offers young aspirants challenging careers in public policy planning, analysis, evaluation and public management in governments, the voluntary sector and international organizations.

Students who complete the MPP programme can look forward to attractive career opportunities in the civil services, the corporate sector, academics, NGOs, multilateral agencies, social service organizations and international donor agencies. They are also well-placed to take full advantage of new career opportunities being created in the area of public policy.Two batches of students have passed out successfully and have found careers in reputed institutions in non-governmental sector, in corporate and other research institutions such as ASCI, EPTRI, IFMR, Nasscom, CII, CGG, Clintons Foundation, Byrraju Foundation etc. All students who qualify for admission are provided with stipend and other facilities.
